I actually started "growing my hair" several months ago, but recently decided that I was very serious about it and will be chronicling my progress. After a chemical mishap five or so years ago, I kept my hair "butch short." I loved it. It took 30 seconds to do my hair in the morning. Then I had some wonderful things happen in my personal life when I man I've loved for 17 years came into my life. Two and a half years into the relationship, I decided to grow my hair. Although he didn't care, he's still ecstatic.

My hair (according to the hair ratings out there) is 3b, 3c, with a little 2c and 4a thrown in. A nod to my mixed heritage. Along with this, I will be losing the weight I've been mentally holding on to as well ... I have decided that by the time I'm 60 (about 2-1/2 years from the time of this writing in August 2009), I will be able to look good in a bikini. Not skinny, but fit and happy. Taking it long, slow, and healthy.

I hope you find my journey an interesting one, but this is for me. I truly need this for myself. But it doesn't hurt to have encouragement!
